Section
What is changing,
and for whom.
Reports on treaties, trade, migration, climate and the institutions that are supposed to manage them. Written from the documents and from named people, not from other outlets' headlines.
What this desk covers
Three beats.
One question each.
Not who is winning the news cycle, but what is actually changing, why, and for whom. Each report answers that question for one place or one decision, and shows how it knows.
Institutions
How the United Nations, the courts, the central banks and the treaties actually work, and when they do not. Written from the founding texts and the votes, not the press release.
Movement
Trade, migration, money and goods crossing borders. Who moves, why, and what the numbers say when you check them against the agency that collected them.
Climate and resources
Water, energy, food, and the places where they run short. Measured, dated, and sourced to the dataset or the study, with the year it was collected.
First reports in January 2027.
The desk is taking pitches for the first World reports now. Each will be a Report or an Explainer with a primary source for every claim and a named writer who was there or read the documents. We would rather show you an empty desk than a headline we made up.
While you wait, the Explainers desk is already publishing: how the UN Security Council works and how hurricanes are measured and named.
